Description

Bacon French Toast Roll-Ups are a delightful breakfast treat that combines the smoky savoriness of bacon with the buttery, eggy richness of French toast. Perfect for family breakfasts, brunch gatherings, or as an on-the-go meal, these roll-ups are quick to prepare and sure to please everyone with their crispy exterior and soft, flavorful interior.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 slices fresh soft sandwich bread (white, wholemeal, or wholegrain)
  • 6 slices streaky bacon, rind removed
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk (full cream or low fat)
  • Pinch of salt

Optional for Serving:

  • Nachos Cheese Dip

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Bread: Remove the crusts from the bread and flatten each slice using a rolling pin.
  2. Mix the Egg Mixture: In a shallow dish, whisk together the egg, milk, and a pinch of salt.
  3. Cook the Bacon: Heat a large pan over high heat and sear the bacon slices on both sides until browned but not crispy.
  4. Assemble the Roll-Ups: Place a slice of bacon on each flattened bread slice and roll the bread tightly around the bacon, keeping the seam side down.
  5. Prepare the Pan: Wipe the pan clean, add the butter, and heat until melted.
  6. Dip and Cook: Dip each roll-up in the egg mixture, ensuring it’s fully coated. Gently twist to seal the seam. Place the roll-ups in the pan and cook, rotating occasionally, for 3-4 minutes until all sides are golden brown.
  7. Serve: Enjoy immediately, optionally paired with warmed Nachos Cheese Dip or your favorite sauce.
