Dry Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Add-ins:

  • 1 cup chocolate chips (milk, dark, or semi-sweet)
  • Additional butter or oil for cooking

Instructions

Prepare the Batter:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined (the batter should remain slightly lumpy for tender pancakes).
  4. Gently fold in the chocolate chips.

2. Heat the Pan:

  1. Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  2. Lightly coat the pan with butter or oil.

3. Cook the Pancakes:

  1. Pour 1/4 cup of batter onto the skillet for each pancake.
  2. Cook until bubbles form on the surface and the edges start to set (about 2–3 minutes).
  3. Flip and cook for an additional 1–2 minutes until golden brown.
  4. Repeat with the remaining batter, adding more butter or oil as needed.

4. Serve:

  1. Stack the pancakes and serve warm with your favorite toppings, such as maple syrup, whipped cream, fresh berries, or additional chocolate chips.
